Urban poverty is on the rise and consequently the unemployment rate has increased. This has become worse due to the Covid-19 situation. A group that has been adversely affected are single mothers who have to take care of their kids without any financial support. In line with one of the trust’s objective, to empower women, the trust, in partnership with Amici dei Popoli (ADP), is planning on economically empowering single mothers in Nairobi through the issuance of micro credit. The Trust will connect the single mothers with a company that produces healthy products including natural honey, porridge, peanut butter and activated charcoal. The 100 beneficiaries of the program will be both the single mothers and their kids. The single mothers will be economically empowered, they will learn finance management and other life skills, and they will also be able to network with other beneficiaries of the project.
